Kuri dogs

This week I have been reading a text called Kuri by Priscilla Wehi.A key idea in this text is the extinction. An example of this key idea is the bones found in Hawaii, The Cook islands and Aotearoa NZ.Some reasons why the kuri dog are extinction is because they were eaten by their owner if they didn't catch anything for dinner,.Scientists are trying to find out why kuri disappeared. They say that it is possible to tell what the Kuri were eating by studying the chemicals in their bone, teeth and hair. Its likely that the Kuri ate the foods that there owner were eating.

Another key idea I found is when the Kuri dogs get skinned that mean they used their skin to make bed wear, bandages and clothing. An example of this key idea is when the hair of the Kuri were made into Te Urewera cloak. It has been handed down through many generations. The cloak is worn on special occasions and was worn on the signing of the Tuhoe Treaty settlement. They would use the skin of the Kuri to make bandages. The bandages were very thick and were used for injury during hand to hand
battle.

Thank you for reading
